It can be hard to find vegetarian options at Cuban restaurants, but this place has a few different tasty choices, including spinach or pizza empanadas, vegetarian steak, vegetarian sandwiches, pasta, congri, sauteed veggies, and yellow rice (in addition to the most delicious fried yuca and tostones). It's a small family-owned business in a shopping center, and the owners are very kind and helpful. The place is quiet and casual. All in all, it is a very nice place to grab a quick lunch or get some takeout.

Just stopped today for a little Cuban "brunch" action. We had some egg and toast breakfast and a steak sandwich. Both were tasty, and the cafe con leche was great too! Owners were very nice. I get a feeling it'll be one of my regular spots.

Ok. First thing first, NEW OWNERS! I have been in and out of Rey's for some time and never impressed. It was more of necessity since the best Cuban spot in the area closes at 5. However, they were recently taken over by awesome owners who are trying their best to change the poor, over priced food experience of the previous guys. I must say, these guys now have upgraded Rey's in my book from a cost and quality perspective. Give it a try guys. You will not be disappointed.

Rarely, if ever, do I give one star reviews. However, I am unfortunately forced to make an exception in the case of Rey's Cuban Restaurant. Like others, I have many times seen this restaurant in passing through the area. The restaurant itself is clean, the woman working the register seemed friendly, but spoke little to no english. I ordered the lunch special, lechon asado sandwich ($5.95 with drink), which I can only imagine was the roasted pork and Cuban bread that remained from someone's family gathering the week prior. The meat was lacking flavor, and while I always look forward to the Cuban bread that accompanies a sandwhich, I struggled to get through several bites before throwing it away. While my rating is based on a single experience and sandwich, I cannot imagine I will return to this establishment anytime soon, especially given what appears to be a consensus of bad reviews from fellows yelpers. With so many great Cuban restaurants in the area (Cubans on the run, black bean, ect), it would be difficult to imagine this restaurant lasting much longer without drastic changes to the food quality.

Very good breaskfast also had the cuban bread loved it you have \o stop by and have the cuban coffee so far the best I've had had the breaskfast sandwich with sausage links nicely done very light and fluffy eggs plus fries.

Saw their sign from the road and stopped in for the $5 chicken lunch special to-go. At first the guy put one skimpy looking drumstick on the tray and started to move on to rice. I asked him if that was it and he said yeah but that he could give me another, so of course.. yes please! Rice and beans were next and plantains. I noticed that I was upcharged a dollar for the second sad looking drumstick but I just figured whatever. Maybe this place has amazing chicken. Got to work and am currently eating some simmered chicken with very little flavor, yellow rice and beans blander than the stuff you can buy at Publix, and three okay plantains. Is the food decent? Yes. Worth going back for? Absolutely not. I've been spoiled by the likes of Cafe Madrid, Black Bean Deli, Leonchenera Latina, and the hundreds of other Caribbean cafes in the area. Do yourself a favor and go to one of those until this place gets their stuff together, if ever.

Under new owners, and unfortunately a downgrade in quality. Maduros were greasy. Black beans were bland and kind of funky (not in a good way). Iced tea was served in a coffee mug when I wanted to gulp it down on a hot afternoon.

This place is pretty good. All the meals taste like your mom cooked them at home and they have great service. Ive had the omelette for breakfast and the grilled chicken for lunch and both have been really good and everything tastes fresh.

This would be half the price in Miami but it's worth it if you are craving a casual Cuban food experience. Make sure you check out the specials and come before 3pm for the lunch specials.

I dropped in to Rey's Cuban Cafe after having spotted it when I visiting the Goodwill, so I decided to give them a try. They were advertising quite a few lunch specials so I chose the chicken friccasse with boiled yucca and white rice. The lunch special includes your main entree (chicken friccassee) and your choice of two side items (boiled yucca, fried yucca, white rice, yellow rice, black beans, maduros, or mixed vegetables). You choose your two sides and the meal also includes a small side salad. Drinks are extra. My boyfriend opted for the steak with onions lunch special and chose yellow rice and mixed veggies for his sides. After a short wait, our food was served. Immediately I was impressed by the portions of food. The taste didn't disappoint either. Both my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our meals. Overall, I enjoyed the food. It's a small place that has that mom and pop feel. I would definitely hit this place up again during one of my Goodwill thrift runs!

This is a generous 2 stars. Steak was tough like rubber. Tostones were not cooked enough! The people talk about their costumers in Spanish. Yes I don't look Spanish but I can understand what you are saying. Black beans were bland! The congri is made out of uncle bens rice. Keep driving. They will nickel and dime you for the mojito as well.

It's hard not to like a restaurant serving homemade food. Rey's is even better because when we showed up five minutes before closing, the woman running the place welcomed us and invited us to come in and enjoy our meal, no hurry. Jodi had chicken fricasee and loved it; I had a variety of vegetables and have no complaints whatsoever. There's a good selection of batidos (Cuban milkshakes) here. It felt crowded with only a few people in it, though, and it wasn't too easy to navigate in a wheelchair.

Very tasty! We walked into this place not knowing what to expect but it was very good. The Cuban sandwich and their wings were well done. Only thing that i did not like was that their combo did not include any sides. I would come back here again if I am ever back in the neighborhood. The staff was very friendly.

Warning: the cuban sandwiches do NOT have pork and that is why the menu reads "Cuban-style sandwich" and "no pork". The cuban bread saves this ham sandwich from being just a plain ol' ham sandwich. The restaurant also serves hot meals, none of which have pork. The croqueta and papa rellena are good. Prices are reasonable. The Cuban Espresso was okay. They close at 4:30 on Fridays and are not open for business on Saturdays.

I was hungry for Cuban cuisine and happened to see Rey's Cuban Cafe in the Winn Dixie plaza in Fern Park. The outside of the store showed a lot of promise and after a few seconds inside, it was evident that this is a true mom & pop cafe. The menu is very inviting with prices very affordable but photos on the wall displaying the specialties do a great injustice to the actual food. The smell of fresh baked cuban bread permeates the cafe and added to my eagerness to try the dishes. For this trip, black beans with white rice, maduros, and ropa vieja sandwich were selected. I The beans were perfectly cooked and offered a lot of flavor. The maduros (sweet plantains) were desert and the ropa vieja sandwich was juicy, tender, and just downright scrumptuous.
